A plate of crudely crystallized Gold crystals from a recent small find in Georgetown Queensland. This specimen is comprised of numerous crystals, most of which are flattened and elongate octahedrons with skeletal growth. They have grown in an arborescent formation and exhibit spinel twinning. This piece has a hackly texture to its surface.
All of these specimens appear to be Supergene Gold and were collected from an area no more than 50cm in diameter and just over a metre deep.
Measures 13 x 7 x 1.2mm and weighs 0.54 grams.
